HISTORY
In early days of 1981 several WW 11, Korea, And Vietnam Veterans gathered at the Swanky House
restaurant in the Riverside area of Ft Worth for the purpose of discussing the possibility of
organizing an American Legion Post in the Haltom City area.
This discussion continued past the closing time of the Restaurant and the meeting was moved to
the Home of one of the Veterans ( Billy Nixon) where the discussion was continued and it was
decided to make Application of a Temp charter.
Request was made for the issuance of a temporary Charter for the formation of a post at Hatom
city to be known as Haltom City Post 655 Department of Texas.
The Following Veterans were listed on the Application.

D.W. Davis certified to the accuracy of the application and requested the Charter when issued be
mailed to him at 5620 Eezell St Haltom City, TX 76117.
First Endorsement was made by The American Legion Department of Texas on July 9, 1981 with
Charter to be issued under the name Haltom City no 655 Department of Texas and assigned this
Post to District 12.
Second Endorsement was made on 16 July,1981 and Charter was Forwarded to Post
Third Endorsement was made and signed on July 21, 1981 by Charles E, Williams Jr 12th Dist
Commander.
At a later date (Unknown ) a meeting and election was held and D.W. Davis was elected
Commander.
