August News Letter
I want to thank the members of Post 655 for their attendance at the
Installation of Post officers at the Hafbrau Restaurant on the 22nd of July.
To those of you were not there missed a Great Meeting and a very good
meal. ( if you went away hungry it was your own fault.)
I will be call on several of you to serve on several committees that the
Post dearly needs. Please be advised that 655 is YOUR Post and please help
with the management of it.
Many Thanks to Past Commander Alex Gonzalez for the Fine job he has
done this past year and to the job I know he will do as Adjutant this Year.

If you have not received your 2009 Membership card you no longer have a voice
in Legion matters. Plainly stated you have to be current in order to attend
meetings and have a voice in the programs. We may have not explained to you
the Fiscal American Legion Year: it begins 1 July of each year and ends 30 June
the following year. The legion gives you a grace period from 1 July to 31
December in order to pay your current year’s dues. Therefore you only have until
30 June to pay your 2009 dues and after that the 2010 dues become due.

Here it is the start of a new membership year. National has sent out the first
mailer to all members. The sooner that you ,the member sends your remittance back to
the post, the less times a mailer will be sent to you. As a post, we came up short of our
goal for the past year. Lets try and make that 100 % goal this year. Should we make
the 100% mark before 1 January, we will receive a $1.00 rebate from department for
each member. That is a good incentive.
